MY TURNING POINT
Do you have a plan for the Holidays this year? It’s never too early to think about what you will do when faced with tough food choices. Don’t even mention your response to your family breathing down your neck to have seconds.
I decided I was going to make some changes in the way I approached the Holidays about 4 years ago. I was tired of feeling sick after I ate something that I normally wouldn’t eat and I was even more tired of the guilt I felt for eating it. If I was going to have a Holiday meal with extended family, I would offer to cook or bring my own side dish. I started to say no to the foods that I knew weren’t getting me to my goals and I stopped giving in to the guilt I felt because I ate differently than everyone else. I was unapologetic for my food choices and I still am. This is the best advice and tip I can give to you today. Don’t be sorry for being healthy and don’t look back.
DON’T WAIT TO START MAKING CHANGES
I have had a lot of people ask me about what to do about the Holidays coming up. It will be here before you know it. I tell them, don’t wait until they are here, or worse, wait until they are over. You will be heavier, sicker, more discouraged, and have more to lose if you weight until January 1st. Do it now! If you are thinking about your health, start taking the steps to be healthier today! You need to decide what it is that you want to change. Take a look at your goals and start planning. Many people don’t know where to start. Start by educating yourself. Research, not on google, but read a book. Read my blogs! Eat more vegetables! That is a great place to start.
If you are traveling for the Holidays and you know you will struggle with staying on track, identify what it is that you will struggle with most and do something about it! You can still enjoy the holidays without gaining ten pounds and falling completely off the wagon.
